The PalmPilot was released in 1997. It was proving that the third sort of smartphone between a cellular phone and a computer was necessary. The year 1999 saw a lot of things happening. Blackberry OS was first introduced in 1999 for the Pager BlackBerry 850.

In the same year, Handango also got launched. It was among the initial online service marketplaces to provide mobile products for smartphones and tablets. Also, in the Servlet Specification version 2.2, the idea of a web application was born in the Java language.

In the same year, BlackBerry 5810 smartphone was available for the public. A year later, Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, and Chris White established Android Inc. in California in 2003.

After two years of founding the company, Google paid at least $50 million for Android Inc. in 2005. In 2007, Steve Jobs finally unveiled the long-awaited iPhone. As a result, Apple’s App Store was online in 2008 with 552 applications. Besides, the Android operating system gets introduced in 2008.

The Samsung Galaxy app store for Samsung Electronics smartphones came into existence in 2009.

Apple’s introduction of the Mac Software Store in 2010 was similar to a comparable app distribution mechanism for macOS. And in the same year, The iPad was available with around 3,000 applications. 2011 – The term “App” was able to bag the honour of being “Word of the Year” for 2010.

In 2012, Google brought a change by renaming Android Market to ‘Google Play. In addition, wear OS by Google was introduced in 2014, a version of Google’s Android operating system built for smartwatches and other wearables.

And in 2016, Chrome OS was getting the Google Play Store 2016, which includes all Android applications. The same year, Apple enables its programmers to buy advertising spaces in the US App Store to boost app online visibility.

Mobile applications are constantly changing and will continue to do so in the near future. They’re a huge thing and have a stronghold on the market. And that is why you must know the past and be aware of the future.
