The mantra of Ganapati Atharvashirsha: Atharvashirsha means determination or solitary focus of intelligence as intended for one’s Divine consciousness. Chanting this mantra assists the chanter in achieving the four life virtues described in Hinduism:

  1. The Dharma (doing good deeds),
  2. Artha (material opulence) (material opulence),
  3. Kama (satisfaction of sensual bliss) (satisfaction of sensual bliss)
  4. Moksha (liberation of the spirit)

The name Ganapati Atharvashirsha has special significance. This is composed of Atharva and Shirsha. Atharva means Constant in Sanskrit. Shirsha is the Sanskrit word for brain or mind. Chanting Ganapati Atharvashirsha on a regular basis can help your brain, mind, and thoughts become more stable, peaceful, and joyful. Chanting the Ganapati Athrvashirsha Ganesh Mantra is a stimulant in this fast-paced or restless lifestyle, helping to calm our senses.

The History of Ganapati Atharvashirsha Mantra

Nobody knows when the Ganapati Atharvashirsha Mantra was written. People and researchers believe it occurred between the 16th and 17th centuries. Various sources claim that Ganapati Athrvashirsha was written by the Sage Atharva, but this is uncertain because no Upanishad mentions the author’s name. However, Ganapati Atharvashirsha rose to prominence in the early 1900s, when Lord Ganesha was worshipped by Maharashtra’s Brahmins.

What Does Atharvashirsha have to Say?

The Ganapati Atharvashirsha is Lord Ganesha’s ultimate text. It honors him as the ultimate Deity, one who considers all holiness. He is the only Holy Trinity in Ganapati Atharvashirsha who cyclically forms, protracts, and destroys the Universe, and he represents the five elements, the past, present, and future, as well as all extraterrestrial bodies.

The Ganapati Atharvashirsha contains Lord Ganesha’s beej or seed mantra – “Gam” – and instructs Lord Ganesh’s devotees on how to use his mantra correctly. Many people use the words “Gan or Gang” in Lord Ganesha’s Beej Mantras and in other Ganesh Mantras. People must use the “GAM” seed in all of his mantras instead of Gan or Gang.

In addition, Ganapati Atharvashirsha uses Ganesha’s attributes such as a tusk, multiple arms, a belly, and weaponry to meditate.
